Idle thoughts of a Holi afternoon

I loved the copy on this jolly old website. The original, I am told, was something like

"Other Games

For the lovers of indoor games we have Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Billiard/Snooker, Card table, Carrom, chess, Brain wizard Scrabble, Table tennis, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Billiard/Snooker, Card table, Carrom, chess, Brain wizard Scrabble, Table tennis, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Billiard/Snooker, Card table, Carrom, chess, Brain wizard Scrabble, Table tennis,Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Billiard/Snooker, Card table, Carrom, chess, Brain wizard Scrabble, Table tennis etc."

but some diligent editing did the trick. Brevity, they say, is the soul of wit.

And here's my holi limerick
(The rhyme scheme works best with a mallu accent - joe-lee for jolly and foe-lee for folly)

I like the good old festival of holi

It can be very colorful and jolly

As I watch it from afar

From the seclusion of my bar

Because participating, in my opinion, is folly

It's kind of like in smaller restaurants in Tamil nadu, where you to ask for what's ready during breakfast time, you'd hear the waiter go, "idli, vada, pongal, poori, dosa, idli, pongal, vada, poori, etc..." :)

PS:In my old age, I find composing limericks mentally taxing. So, please to assume that I said something funny in limerick form. :)

Ah, looks like we spent and identical holi.

What joy to stay colorless, golly.

Oh no saar, you're varry wraang
To stay away from the colors and bhaang
Though I haven't had that latter
But that's another matter
May the ishpirit of the feshtival live laang!

'Tis a drag and a bore
To dress up in a white chador
Only to get spattered
And pretend it mattered
To celebrate a festival of yore :p

Me not too impressed with this Holi
where ppl drink thandai with bhaang ki goli
Me much prefer that dandiya raas
where 'items' whom we term jhakaas
dance away in shiny little chaniya choli!!!

There was once a man called shenoy
A man, I very much liked to annoy
So in his blog i typed many rhymes
Which made him pull his hair at times
And finally pack his bags to Hanoi

Happy holi :D
